A psalm (with a silent “p”) is a song or hymn that flows out of the relationship between the LORD and his child. Such poetry abounds in emotion, from inexplicable joy to tremendous sorrow, always in a worshipful position before the King while remaining raw and true. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I owe everything to the one who redeemed me from death, but I still struggle to meet with this awesome Friend daily.
That said, I’m challenging myself to read a psalm a day in 2018 and respond in song or poetry to draw nearer to him. Habits are made with repetition.
Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD! For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise! (Ps 102:18 and 47:7)
